Hey guys,
Thanks very much for taking the time to post the information about diving in Croatia! One of my buddies and I were in the pub last night discussing where to go in May 2008 for a week of diving. We've been going to the Red Sea for the past 5 years and decided it's time for something different. We both agree, based on what we've heard and read, that Croatia will be our best bet for the next trip. We'll load my Berlingo full with our gear and drive from Amsterdam. The only difficulty is choosing a location. Or perhaps several locations. Time to start the serious research!
Again, many thanks!
Phil

you'll have a LOOOOONG drive... maybe you should stick to the north adriatic to make it a little bit shorter...

hey any sugestions for a sound dive centre to do ow? im looking for somewhere that will be relaxed but efficient as i cant fully flex my ankle joint anymore due to injury.

Hi bounci,
As posted above we dive with Big Blue, in Bol on Brac. Didn't train with them but have had many happy hours diving with them. Contact Igor or Cezar. Big Blue Sport, Bol, Croatia - Homepage
Haven't any experience with any other dive centre in Croatia so ......
Cheers

Hi guys,

We (5-7 divers) are planning a few day trip to Croatia around Rijeka, Krk or Istria area at the end of June and appreciate any advice on shore diving sites and accommodations near by.

Our preference would be shore/wall dives due to low water temps at depth. For accommodations there is no preference but camping would make our trip more memorable. So far I found interesting places near Labin and Baska.

Thanks,
agis

I can recommend Krnica Dive .: Krnica DIVE located in port of village Krnica in Istria (some 20 km from Pula or 30 km from Labin). The camp is next to the diving center. Shore and boat diving is offered. Water temperature these days is like 22 on surface, 18 to 20 m depth, 13 to 45 m and 10-11 below 45 m.

Hi MonkSeal,

thanks for info, it is very helpful to know current conditions. After checking resent weather reports chicken out and booked apartment in Rabac so it is possible that we will stop at Krnica.

Hello all!
I was very glad to see that there were some good posts about Croatian diving

Me and 3 friends plan to go to Croatia for a week of diving in the beginning of august and I have a couple of questions maybe you guys could answer

Should one dive in northern or southern Croatia? Any special town/island?
Is there a diving site we just can´t miss?

Should we stay in one place and do all our dives or should we travel around?

I have seen that many DCs have dive+accomodation packages. Are those usually good or are they more expensive than finding a separate accomodation?

I would be thankful for any additional tips I could get about diving in Croatia.

Thank you
Daniella

It depends, both have their strengths and weaknesses! North has some very nice wrecks but visibility is not so good, south has everything but dives are much deeper... Best would be to check both :) - but you'll need more than 1 week for that :)

Should we stay in one place and do all our dives or should we travel around?
if you are staying for only 1 week I think you should stay at one place and try all of their local dive spots...

there are no rules about this - problem could be getting an empty room at that time, not the price....

Thanks for this very informative thread!

We've only been diving for a few months. Only have done freshwater dives in the Netherlands.
Me and my buddy/girlfriend are going to Krk in september.

Is it beginner-friendly to dive there?

I've a 7mm long john, and a 5mm vest to put over it, is this enough for september?
And I heard the visibility can be from 5 to 10 meters, is this true? :) (I'm only used to 2 or 3 meters vis.)
