I have no problem letting anyone know how much experience I have, or don't have. I have about 180 or so dives in many environments and I'm just getting into tech diving here in the Northeast. So next to the hardcore wreck diver with 2000 + dives I'm a nobody. But I don't go around knocking everyone that has a different clip than I do and throwing out the stroke word here and there. There seems to be a bit of that going on and I just think it's in poor taste.

Ummm if I'm not mistaken this one of a long line of threads by DIR-bashers with something to prove. I have yet to see anything particularly critical about non-DIR gear configurations. In fact they are only mentioned in dozens of posts to illustrate something that us DIR folks have tried and didn't like.

OneBrightGator has never posted a description or pic of exactly what he's diving and neither have you. There's no rational presentation of what you're using or doing. Until you post YOUR way stop criticizing mine.

You are the classic example of what the mean old word stroke was intended to convey.

Done when the thread was in the DIR forum and there was a good probability at that time that it was a troll.

Gotta do better than that I'm afraid.

I've never criticized your way. I do criticize the overall attitudes I get by the comments I read. I just think many DIR divers are way too defensive and closed minded to others opinions and practices. And quick to point out others weaknesses. A perfect example is right here. Defensive.

OK well I didn't realize this started a year ago so my bad there.

Myself. I find great amusement when people reject DIR (or parts of DIR) when they actually don't know what it is.

At least if they are going to reject it...wouldn't it be a good idea to reject it for the right reasons?

LOL how do you know that I DON'T know what DIR is? If I stood next to you on a shore dive I bet you'd have a hard time telling me apart from a true hardcore DIR diver from just looking at my gear setup. I also know that DIR is NOT just about the gear, but more about the team concept of diving. I've modeled my rig after DIR because most of it makes sense to me. I dive manifolded doubles, long hose, no bungied mess, continuous harness, light on the left, no bungeed wings, no split fins etc. I prefer to dive with a buddy of same mindset but I'm also willing to do things that don't sit right with the DIR crowd like solo dive on occasion etc. So with that I totally understand why I'm not DIR, but trust me , I respect a lot of DIR that I've incorporated. I understand why it's done that way. And I respect those that follow it all the way. I just reject what I perceive are the big attitudes and snotty comments. But in all fairness I didn't mean to drag up old trolls :) Hey it's all in fun right? It's ONLY the internet afterall.

I go by what people say.

like

but more about the team concept of diving.

Which sounds like a catchy key phrase, but its truly an empty statement. By itself, it means nothing.

The devil is in the details, so to speak.
