Wow, so bummed I had to cancel!! I'm glad everyone else had a great time though. Once business picks up, I'll be back in the water! (gotta get my nitrox cert ASAP)

You guys were missed, it would have been cool to have a ScubaBoarders only boat, but there is always other trips. I definitely recommend you get your Nitrox certification. On dives to 80+ it makes a big difference.

Wow!! I am late as usual making a report :D We got in late Sunday night and I was busy with other things yesterday. Andy and I headed out to Orange Beach about 4:15am and got there right on time at 7am even after a breakfast stop. Guess what? No traffic to fight at that time of the morning. :) We had a great day of diving. I was a bit bummed that Andy couldn't make it out the last dive but we are determined to find an answer to his problem. He had been on meds for two weeks which included Nasonex, antibiotic, antihistamine and allergy medicine. We are going back to the Doctor this week.
The two dives were awesome. I rented two steel 85's from Gary and was able to drop 4 lbs of weight so I only used 8lbs but was still way overweighted. I dropped like a rock. The first dive I had a max depth of 105ft for a total bottom time of 30 minutes. I hung out on the line quite a bit with Andy before descending and then my mask started flooding and I never could get it situated. I was wearing a new strap and hood and I didn't get it all adjusted right. As we started back up the line, Andy signaled me that he was not ok. He had a squeezing in his sinuses through the nose area and we had to hang out for a bit for him to clear some so that we could go back up. His right ear had also begun to bother him. I am so glad he at least made it down for that dive. He was so excited about it and I got to share a beautiful dive with my son.
The second dive he couldn't clear at all. We had gone down first so we hung out at about 10 ft with him trying for a while and when Paul started down the line Andy motioned for me to buddy with them and he was going back up. I had a great dive with Paul and Walter. My max depth was 87ft and even with hanging out at the line for a while with Andy I still had a 45 minute dive. The YDT was amazing as always. I had adjusted my mask and hood and this time had no problems at all.
Capt Gary and DM Brian as always did a great job and made the day alot of fun. Gary, Brian, Andy, Walter, Paul and I ragged each other so much the other guy who came along with his grandson joined in on the fun. He kept telling me "They just don't cut you any slack do they" :D. SEE!!!! I have proof now!! ;)
Afterwards we went to a fabulous restaurant at the Wharf and enjoyed a meal and a couple of drinks with Gary and Linda and Paul and his wife.
Can't wait to do it again!!

Thanks for the report. Nothing like kissing a jellyfish! Hope you are doing better Denise.

The kiss of death!! But Walter made it all better.;)

Ummmmm...excuse me....he had some medicine that worked like a charm. It took the sting right out.:D

Walter if you want to share the weights I'll give you a nice dive weight shaped like a fish in return. Denise has one.

Yes!!:D They are quite beautiful. I use mine as a paper weight on my desk so I will always have a piece of the ocean with me. :)

I told you that you would like those steel tanks. I am down to using only four pounds and I still felt a little heavy. I think I will try two pounds next dive.

If he had sinus squeeze on the way back up it sounds like he still had some congestion or some swelling in his sinuses. I know some people have to dive with sudaphed to open their sinuses. I hope the doc can figure it all out. I know it must have been pretty cool to have him budy up with you on the Avocet.

It is always nice to drop a few pounds. :blinking:

That was my thinking. Maybe he just wasn't on the medicine long enough to clear everything up. A couple of years ago the Doctor gave him Prednisone which is a steroid to take right before a dive trip to drop it out in a hurry. I don't know why he didn't do that this time. That is why I am going back this week. I am going to talk to him about that. I know you can't take it all the time but he had prescribed it before to take 2 days before and during a dive trip. It worked like a charm when we went on vacation a couple of years ago. I actually had a little trouble with one of my ears on the last dive right before ascending and I don't usually have any problems. I never have to hold my nose to clear but that time I did.
I enjoyed buddying up with you though. Paul "said" on the boat after the dive that when I gave him the buddy signal on the line after Andy went up that he was hollering "noooooo" in his reg but I didn't hear him.:D

Prednisone has some wicked side effects (long-term). Might not be the best idea for a youngster.

Yes. I know you shouldn't take it on a regular basis. He gave it to him just to take if he needed it right before a dive trip. It is really no way of knowing though if it would have worked or not. If he has allergies, we may have to wind up at a specialist with allergy shots of some kind. I am thinking about just skipping the GP and going on to a ENT doctor this time.
