No, actually it's laws that discriminate against gay people and actions like murdering and jailing gay people at home and around the globe that "bothers" homosexuals.

globeandmail.com: Intolerance sets back the fight against AIDS

"In March, Senegal hosted the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, which brought key Muslim leaders to Dakar, including the arch-conservative Saudis, who funded development projects across the capital for the event. It was a coup for Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, the first time the meeting had come to sub-Saharan Africa. His government was determined that nothing would spoil its moment in the international limelight. Inadvertently, the MSM [an AIDS action group] provided the regime with an opportunity to prove its Islamic fervour.

Someone sold pictures from a recent gay wedding to a newspaper, which ran the photos and launched a campaign of persecution of everyone who appeared in them. The wedding guests were jailed. Huge crowds demonstrated here in the capital, demanding death to homosexuals. "The government wanted to present an ultra-Muslim image of Senegal," Prof. Niang said. "And they found a group to crush.""

Yep, definitely "bothersome".

Yes, it's bothersome. However, a whole bunch of muslims would kill all of us if they could. They're pretty much equal oportunity killers. They want to kill everyone that isn't a muslim and one of their own brand of muslim, at that.

What should we do about it?

I thought I explained that. Parents would naturally want to protect their children from those attempting to use the schools to undermine their wishes regarding the raising of their children. When people aren't permitted to make the decisions in the raising of their own children, it is indeed horrible and has absolutely nothing to do with any kind of love. It's a vile act of open hostility and it's unreasonable to expect such an act to be received with understanding or kindness.

I dunno, there are some pretty unfit parents out there. I certainly don't condone undermining most parents wishes, but there are certainly many that I would.

This could be very true, and if reversed also very true, your point?

My point is that there is absolutely nothing inherently bad or 'evil' about homosexuality as much as christians/muslims etc want to make it look like it is.

Crooks and Liars » The House Passes The Employment Non-Discrimination Act

Rep. Frank: “I want to address the motion to delay. Mr. Speaker, we say here that we don’t take things personally, and usually that’s true. Members, Mr. Speaker, will have to forgive me — I take it personally. 35 years ago, I filed a bill that tried to get rid of discrimination based on sexual orientation. As we sit here today, there are millions of Americans in states where this is not the law. By the way, 19 states have such a law. In no case has it led to that decision. The Massachusetts law passed in 1989, that did not lead to the decision in 2004, unrelated. But here’s the deal: I used to be someone subject to this prejudice. And through luck, circumstance, I got to be a big shot. I’m now above that prejudice. But I feel an obligation, to 15-year-olds dreading to go to school because of the torments, to people they’ll lose their job in a gas station if someone finds out who they love. I feel an obligation to use the status I have been lucky enough to get, to help them. And I want to ask my colleagues here, Mr. Speaker, on a personal basis, please don’t fall for this sham. Don’t send me out of here having failed to help those people.”

I have mixed thoughts on this subject. I don't like to someone denied the chance to work if they are willing to work but, at the same time, I don't like to see the government interfere in the hire/fire decisions of a business owner.

Fight fundamentalist muslims just as hard as we should fight fundamentalist christians.

Whether or not you think they're fit is irrelevant. You don't have the authority or the right to interfere regardless of what you think of their parenting. We have state agencies that can under certain circumstances but it isn't uncommon for them to overstep their bounds.

When people aren't allowed to run their own homes/businesses and raise their own children we don't have anything left that's salvageable.

Do you think that the hire/fire protection afforded other groups (e.g. women and blacks) is OK? What's the difference? People are born gay, just as they're born female or black, it's not just, "another lifestyle choice."

Mike, you have repeatedly complained about parents not raising their kids and leaving it to TV and various institutions. I agree with you that too many parents have abdicated their parental duties. I'm raising my kids. Public schools by their very nature always interfere with some parents' wishes. That's why some people send their children to private school or home school them.

I agree. Good parenting (easier said than done) can overcome alot.

One problem I have with our government school system is that we are forced to pay for it whether we use it or not. That only makes it more difficult, financially, to take advantage of other choices. I know people who homeschool too. I think it's an absolutley fantastic alternative IF a family is in a position where it's possible. It's a full time job and then some and requires at least one person available all day to see to it. Again, just made more difficult by the fact that we pay for the government school no matter what.
