technically rebreathers as well — well not banned but they just put you on a watchlist (and their „threat“ got normalized over the years)

Ofcourse people fly over with their rebreathers all the time, the same can’t be said for dpvs

But it’s relatively easy to rent out a dpv in Dahab, given the cert, the money and an (CDWS) approved diveplan — not that Dahab has a dive that actually needs a DPV
Do you know which dive center rents them in Dahab?

Not entirely sure, but I think SlyDive and ScubaSeekers — I can ask around on the DL

Has anyone dived with Octopus World Dahab? Not to be confused with "Octopus Divers", a little further south.

not engaging in a political debate, and not willing to, but merely the aesthetical concept of it.. (as this is not ThePub, and I really try to keep my SB experience about diving only)

Should service staff (anywhere in the world) share the customers’ beliefs/stances/sympathies/priorities to be blessed by their visit?
(Saftey is another matter, I personally don’t find Egyptian LOBs safe at the moment — I was lucky enough to capitalize on the covid price dip pre quality of safety dip, and that’s it)

Sounds like an enforcement of „white lotus“ and „corporate rainbow flag only in June“ kind of faux-morale

Glad you’ve enjoyed the redsea once already (as I truly believe everyone should at least once in their life), please don’t visit my home country again if it’s so painful to you and spare everyone the trouble of grinding on their teeth; it’s supposed to be a vacation 🤷🏽‍♀️

The topic is Egypt getting a bad rap when it comes to LOBs. The initial poster talks about 4 LOBs that he says are safe. That doesn't make all LOBs safe, and it doesn't necessarily make the ones he named safe. What if by some remote chance something bad happens, and his boat needs to be rescued?? The Egyptian Navy doesn't have rescue divers and prevented other rescue divers from working for some time in the Sea Story tragedy. The Egyptian government forced survivors to sign statements in Arabic and refused to let people leave if they didn't. They never did an adequate investigation and they don't have adequate safety standards. That's enough for me to say , NO , they aren't getting a bad rap, they deserve the horrible reputation they have.
Yes, go dive Egypt, but not from a LOB, dive from the shore or of a day boat.

Or if you’re very fortunate to have your own private boat over there (please whoever is reading this and does indeed have one; let’s be friends 😅)
