Hi,

Planning to dive in Playa del Carmen and maybe in Cozumel this December 2024. I will take my 15 year daughter new OW diver from last Summer. I dove many time in Cozumel back in the 90'. The last time in September 2005, did both Cenote, very nice, and Boat diving around, night dives, etc.
Any recommendation for a good SSI diving center? Thanks.

Any reason you need SSI? We are diving with Tres Pelicanos (PADI) in Cozumel on December 22.

CenoteXperience in PDC has always been good for us as well. They offer ocean diving as well as cenotes. I am not sure what their agency affiliation is.

You might get better responses if you have this moved to the Cozumel or Mexico subform. You can "report" your own post and ask it to be moved there.

I also recommend CenoteXperience. I have been diving with Nicolas since 2011. He has a small family run dive shop in Playa. They offer Cenote diving, ocean diving and dives over to Cozumel.

Hi thanks. SSI as I may do some additional training for myself. For just diving PADI is ok as well. Thanks who moved my post to Mexico subform.

I just did 4 days of ocean diving from Playa Del Carmen in August. Overall, diving in Cozumel is far superior to diving in PDC. Not the fault of the dive operator which was great, just the quality of the dive sites themselves overall.

Cenote diving is a whole different thing, definitely worth it (and not available on Cozumel).

I've heard that the shark dives in PDC are good if your are there in season (August isn't the season) and aren't opposed to chumming.

There was one ocean dive that was so magical, we went back 2 more times. DM me if you want details.

I dove in Cozumel many times also back in the 80/90’. Back then I was working on a cruise ship and we were there every 15 days and we always went out diving. Agree it is a better diving area there, at least it was back then.
