Finally found a valuable use for one of our dive knifes - oyster shucking.
My dive buddy and I each have a small-ish dive knife attached to the right shoulder strap of our BCDs. In general we forget we have them (that may be a bad thing...Note to self, before next dive review with dive buddy that we each actually own a knife, etc).
A couple of weeks ago our local grocer had Oysters on sale. So we did a flyer and bought some. Once home we needed to find a proper tool to open them. The concrete trowel was quickly dismissed since I did not want to break it.
Finally we thought of our dive knives. One of them was blunt pointed, the other appeared a bit too pointy.
The blunt pointed knife worked a charm.
Bad news is that my dive buddy's knife now resides in our kitchen drawer. Hopefully she will not need it on our next dive trip?
