Question Diving in Madeira, Portugal?

I am thinking about a holiday in Madeira for me and my family. I have my PADI open water certification. I won't have my own gear except for boots and mask.

What would be the best location for someone like me who is family first and then PADI after? It will just be me diving.

I lived in Madeira from 2010 until 2013 near the city centre of Funchal. I dove a lot with Madeira Divepoint who are located in the Pestana Hotel Madeira Carlton. I also ended up doing my DMT with them so obviously I'm not all that objective.
But this hotel always catered to lots of families and having the dive centre located on the hotel grounds is very convenient.
