Ken Nedimyer of the Coral Restoration Foundation will present an update on local coral research and restoration efforts, including amazing video of the August 2009 coral spawn which occured in Keys waters.
Nedimyer developed a passion for the reef at an early age, diving and fishing in the Florida Keys. Following graduation from Florida Atlantic University, with a degree in marine biology, he moved to the Keys to pursue his passion. In 2000, his attention turned more toward research and restoration, particularly of elkhorn and staghorn coral.
Nedimyer's underwater coral nursery is the first of its kind in the nation. His coral restoration work has gained national attention.
